Bags Of Booze, Cocaine Found On DUI Drivers: Blotters

Incidents and arrests from the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police blotters from Feb. 1 to Feb. 12.

LAKE FOREST-LAKE BLUFF, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police departments and court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

ARRESTS

Natalie M. Pollard, 25, of the 2000 block of Mills Court, Lake Forest, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 2 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop on a 2005 Jeep on southbound Sheridan Road. The driver, identified as Pollard, smelled of alcohol and told police she believed she was on McKinley Road in Lake Forest. Police said Pollard tried to pull away from officers before she was taken into custody. She first denied having anything to drink but declined to provide a breath sample, telling officers "bad things happen to people" who provide breath samples, police said. She was also issued citations for improper lane usage, failure to display proof of insurance, illegal stopping and illegal transportation of alcohol after a bag of suspected booze was found in her car.

Jeremy M. Gobelman, 23, of the 200 block of Albert Drive, Vernon Hills, was arrested around 6 p.m. on Feb. 2 in the area of Route 60 and Field Court after officers pulled over a 2003 Ford for an equipment violation. Police smelled cannabis coming from the car, and a search turned up glass pipes used for smoking marijuana. Gobelman, the driver, was arrested and a custodial search turned up a clear plastic bag containing cocaine in his pocket. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and ticketed for a headlamp violation.

Joel F. Guerrero, 38, of the 600 block of Glen Cove, Pingree Grove, was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. on Feb. 4 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and issued a ticket for driving in the wrong lane after police noticed him driving a 2017 Chevy with Ohio plates westbound on East Center Avenue in an eastbound lane. Guerrero said he had three beers and appeared to be impaired from field sobriety tests. He refused to provide a breath sample and was was provided a courtesy ride to a nearby hotel.

A 45-year-old North Chicago woman was arrested around 3 a.m. on Feb. 4 and charged with driving with a suspended license and expired plates following a traffic stop in the area of Route 41 and Deerpath Road.

A 33-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 1 a.m. on Feb. 5 in the area of Route 41 and Westleigh Road and charged with misdemeanor excessive speeding and driving without a valid license after officers pulled him over after he was closed going 90 mph in a 55 mph zone. Police learned he had previous arrests for unlicensed driving in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Richard W. Chuk, 34, of the 500 block of West Everett Road, Lake Forest, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. on Feb. 6 at his home and charged with domestic battery after police were called to a report of a suspicious person.

A 19-year-old Zion man was arrested around 8 a.m. on Feb. 7 in the area of Waukegan and Conway roads and charged with driving on a suspended license after officers noticed him using a cell phone while driving. He was also issued a citation for use of a mobile device while driving.

A 36-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 1 p.m. on Feb. 7 in the area of Deerpath Road and Deerpath Square and charged with no valid driver's license and ticketed for making an illegal right turn on a red light.

A 32-year-old Zion woman was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 and charged with driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop in the area of Route 41 and Gage Lane.

Christopher J. Morehead, 56, of the 900 block of Princeton Court, Vernon Hills was arrested at 9:46 p.m. on Feb. 8 in the 1200 block of McKinley Road and charged with felony theft.

Matthew J. Weigleiz, 23, of the 2200 block of 59th Street, Cicero, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. on Feb. 9 in the area of Route 41 and Old Elm Road and charged with driving with a suspended license and misdemeanor cannabis possession after he was pulled over for driving 75 mph in a 55 mph zone and officers found 14 grams of marijuana in his car.
