Bicycle Tour of Lake Road September 19, 2015

Join the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society for a bicycle tour of Lake Road

Take a ride with the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society back through time as we tour Lake Road on our bicycles.  From Forest Park up to Lake Forest Cemetery, we’ll pedal a leisurely circuit along one of Lake Forest’s most beautiful byways. Historical Society Executive Director Janice Hack will share anecdotes about the architecture and former inhabitants of these lakefront estates.

Find out what Lake Forest park was in the move “Ordinary People” and also the site of the “Old Hotel” in 1858. Discover who donated the gates to Lake Forest Cemetery and why they were given.  Learn about the famous architects of Lake Forest and their architectural styles.  Enjoy refreshments amidst beautiful houses and gardens.

The vent will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 (Note: The rain date for this event will be September 26). The tour begins and ends at the Historical Society, 361 E. Westminster, Lake Forest, IL.
