Carol Russ Receives Carrie Chapman Catt Award
The League of Women Voters - Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area recognizes Carol Russ for her outstanding leadership.
The League of Women Voters - Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area has presented Carol Russ the Carrie Chapman Catt Local Leadership Award. Carol was recognized not only for her years of outstanding leadership on the Board of Directors and as Board President, but also for her continuing guidance and support. Her efforts educated Lake Forest and Lake Bluff residents about public policy issues and fostered a wider participation in the democratic process.
After stepping down from the Board in 2003, Carol Russ has continued to promote the League’s mission. The League always can count on Carol’s directing big or small jobs. Some of her many contributions include: driving her car in the Lake Bluff July 4th parade, organizing public programs such as the “Stormwater: From the Ground Up”, managing candidate debates, presenting “Know Your Government Award” at Deerpath Middle School, acting as liaison to the Lake Michigan Region chapter, and monthly writing a witty email to members.
The League has benefited greatly over the years from Carol’s expertise. Her creative and management skills are exemplary. Her positive attitude and warm people skills smooth over difficult situations. The League appreciates all that she has done, and looks forward to many years of Carol’s leadership and contributions.

The Award is named after the founder of the League of Women Voters. Carrie Chapman Catt was a prominent leader in the fight for women’s suffrage. With her famous leadership and organizations skills, she pressured Congress to pass the 19th Amendment.
