Cherokee 4th Grader Wins Heart of Gold Award
Award presented yearly in honor of former student.

Cherokee Elementary School fourth grader Carleigh Keenan was awarded the Daniel K. Jaekel Heart of Gold award during their Fourth Grade Music Program.
The award, given in memory of Jaekel - a former Cherokee student always described as positive, funny and a good friend - is presented every year to a fourth grader who demonstrates compassion, fellowship, congeniality, fairness and charitable respect.
According to a Chicago Tribune obituary, Jaekel died suddenly at age 11 in 2005.
