Choral Concert to Honor Veterans in Lake Bluff

Lake Bluff Middle School will host the free event Thursday night.

Veterans, American Legion members, active service members and the general public are all invited to attend an American-themed choral concert on Thursday, November 12 at 7 p.m. at Lake Bluff Middle School. Admission is free.

Before and after the concert, audience members will be invited to browse a display of artifacts and memorabilia coordinated by the Lake Bluff History Museum and Lake Bluff Village President Kathleen O’Hara.

As part of the program, veterans and active service members will be asked to stand for recognition.

The concert will feature favorite American songs, including “Shenandoah,” pieces by George Gershwin, Stephen

Sondheim, and Neil Diamond, an Ella Fitzgerald nursery rhyme and an old Quaker song performed in Gospel style.

A slideshow of veteran photos from chorus members’ families will be shown before a rousing finale of “God Bless the USA.”

The concert is directed by Ann Cvitkovic, Choral Director & 7th Grade Advisor at Lake Bluff Middle School. “We are excited to have this opportunity for generations to connect and share past experiences, so that children can know and appreciate all that has been sacrificed to have the freedoms we enjoy,” she said.
