Church Burglarized in Lake Bluff

Police were called to Union Church Thursday afternoon after items were found missing from the office.

Several gift cards and cash were stolen from Union Church on East Prospect Avenue in Lake Bluff between 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Church officials discovered someone entered the office area to remove the items, which were valued at under $800, according to the Daily North Shore. The church was not locked at the time of the theft.

“We are fortunate to live and work in a relatively safe community where these events do not happen on a regular basis,” said Police Chief David Belmonte. “However, thefts can and do occur anywhere. It becomes a matter of trying to take the best precautions you can to avoid being a victim.”
