Citadel Theatre Company Set To Return To Stage In Lake Forest

An outdoor production of "Alice in Wonderland" is set for July, with a four-show regular season due to open in September.

LAKE FOREST, IL — For the first time since February 2020, Citadel Theatre Company plans to return to live, in-person indoor performances in September.

But first, the Lake Forest-based company has scheduled an outdoor performance of "Alice in Wonderland" next month in Melody Farms Nature Preserve.

The five performances of an original adaptation of the Lewis Carrol classic by Scott Phelps, the company's co-founder and artistic director, are set for two weekends under natural lighting from July 9 to July 17.

The indoor season will consist of three plays and a holiday musical at the company's main stage at 300 Waukegan Road.

"Brighton Beach Memoirs," by Neil Simon, opens the season and is set to run from Sept. 18 to Oct. 17.

"You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" by Clark Gesner, is due to run from Nov. 19 to Dec. 23.

"Outside Mullingar," by John Patrick Shanley, is scheduled for Feb. 11 to March 13, 2022.

And "Picasso at the Lapin Agile," by Steve Martin, will close out the season from April 22 to May 22, 2022.
