Community Enjoys a Taste of Asia at North Suburban YMCA

Live performances, delicious food, and engaging art draw crowds to Northbrook Community Relations Committee annual event.

In celebration of Asian-American Heritage Month, the Northbrook Community Relations Commission presented its 11th Annual Taste of Asia Festival on May 3 at the North Suburban YMCA. Hundreds of guests attended the free afternoon event, which offered a wide variety of ways to experience the richness of Asian culture. The day was filled with live performances, including a Bollywood dance troupe, Korean dance and drum ensembles, a Chinese yo-yo master, Filipino musicians, and martial arts demonstrations by NSYMCA instructors. The festival also featured art demonstrations and exhibits by the Japanese SUMI-E MidWest Society, as well as a number of food offerings by popular food vendors.
