Community Garden Launched in June at North Chicago Health Clinic

Be Well-Lake County Dig Day - June 6, 2015

Be Well-Lake County, a diabetes management program, held its 6th annual “Dig Day” on June 6th. Patients planted seasonal vegetables in their Community Garden which has grown very popular since its inception in 2009. The garden helps promote a healthy lifestyle for the patients and serves a great need since many neighborhoods have been deemed “food deserts”. NorthShore University HealthSystem and Lake County Health Department partnered to create Be Well-Lake County to offer necessary diabetes treatment, education and support resources to medically underserved patients.
