Dense Fog Expected North of Chicago Until Wednesday Morning

National Weather Service says advisory is in effect in parts of Cook and Lake counties.

A dense fog advisory from the National Weather Service is in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday in Cook and Lake counties.

According to an alert issued at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, visibility could be reduced to a quarter mile or less, especially near Lake Michigan.

“This dense fog may develop farther inland this evening,” the alert read.

Travel could be hazardous, and drivers should slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of distance around them.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the rest of Tuesday will see lows in the lower 50s and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms until early Wednesday. Highs are expected to be in the 70s.
