Deborah N. Budnick, 54, of the 3100 block of Dato Avenue in Highland Park, was arrested at 11:48 p.m. on Aug. 23 in the 300 block of Green Bay Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police were patrolling the area of Deerpath and Hastings roads after getting a 911 call about a small black sports car swerving all around the road. Officers found a car matching the description headed east on Deerpath, followed it and noticed it commit several traffic offenses before pulling it over. The driver, Budnick, smelled like alcohol and showed signs of impairment. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI, and police also found an open bottle of vodka in the car with about a quarter remaining. She produced a breath test indicating a blood alcohol concentration of 0.243 – more than three times the legal limit.
Jeffrey Garcia, 28, of the 1900 block of 9th Parkway in Waukegan, was arrested at 3:09 a.m. on Aug. 24 and charged with reckless driving, illegal transportation of alcohol and misdemeanor excessive speeding more than 35 mph above the limit after police witnessed him headed south on Route 41 doing more than 90 mph in white Nissan near Lake Forest Hospital. After pulling him over at Westmoreland Road, Garcia submitted to field sobriety testing after reportedly admitted to drinking before driving.

A 39-year-old Waukegan man was arrested at 8:29 a.m. on Aug. 27 near the intersection of Ridge and Old Elm roads and charged with driving with a license revoked from a DUI conviction after he was pulled over for using a cell phone while driving.
A 21-year-old Glenview man was issued a citation for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia after he was pulled over and officer's smelled marijuana in his car and searched it. They found a pipe, an empty package of rolling papers and a bag containing green plant material.
Four Lake Forest teenage boys were cited for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia around 5:47 p.m. on Sept. 2 following a traffic stop in the area of Timber Lane and Beverly Place. Police pulled over a gray Toyota SUV for a traffic violation and immediately smelled marijuana coming from inside while speaking to the driver. A search revealed a glass bong, a bag of cannabis and a vaporizer used for cannabis.
Lucian T. Hatfield-Goodnight, 29, of the 2400 block of North Laramie Street in Chicago, was arrested at 3:27 a.m. on Sept. 3 and charged with drug and traffic offenses after police were called about a silver Nissan stopped at the intersection of Route 60 and Route 41 at a green light. When officers arrived, they found the car still stopped at the intersection with the driver and the front seat passenger asleep inside. When police tried to wake them up, the car began to roll forward, winding up across the road and into the shoulder. Police also noticed a small child, later revealed to be the driver's 5-year-old son, laying down in the back seat who appeared to be unconscious. Still unable to wake up the occupants, police called the Lake Forest Fire Department for assistance. Firefighters broke out the rear window to provide medical aid. After removing all three people, police searched the car. They found cocaine, hydrocodone, Xanax and cannabis, as well as drug paraphernalia. Officers conducted sobriety tests on Hatfield-Goodnight and determined he was impaired. He was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs, driving with a suspended license and child endangerment.
