LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest Police Department as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Police are investigating three residential burglaries that reportedly took place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Nov. 21. Police said two of the three houses were entered after someone threw a rock or a stone through a window or a sliding glass door. The burglars ransacked the bedrooms and other areas of the homes. Charbonnel Kouassi, 55, of the 2100 block of Hebron Avenue in Zion, was arrested Nov. 20 at 7:35 a.m. near the intersection of Route 41 and Westleigh Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police were dispatched to a call about a gold Infiniti heading southbound on Route 41. It was described as going "all over the road" and was driven by a man who appeared to be falling asleep at the wheel. Cops found the car and pulled over Koassi driving under 25 mph in a 45 mph zone. While speaking to him, they noticed the strong smell of alcohol and several small bottles of vodka lying on the passenger seat. He failed field sobriety tests and was booked for DUI.
A 29-year-old Racine, Wisconsin woman was arrested Nov. 23 at 2:18 a.m. near the intersection of Route 41 and Deerpath Road and charged with driving without a valid license or insurance after she was pulled over for speeding.
A 22-year-old Lake Bluff man was arrested Nov. 29 at 9:04 p.m. near the intersection of Green Bay Road and East Westminster Avenue after officers responded to a 911 call about a one-car crash. Police found a crashed 2006 Toyota at the scene and spoke with the driver, who it turned out did not have a valid license or insurance. He did, however, have a small amount of cannabis, for which he was charged.
Brendan M. Ensworth, 30, of the 600 block of West 43rd Street, Chicago, was arrested Dec. 2 at 9:04 p.m. near the intersection of Route 41 and Westleigh Road and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Ensworth was the driver of a disabled vehicle that police went to check on. They smelled marijuana coming from inside his car and noticed a small bag of cannabis in the area of his front seat. Police also found several loose pills they determined to be Xanax. Ensworth was charged with felony unlawful possession of a controlled substance and the civil law violation of possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis.
An 18-year-old Park City man was arrested Dec. 3 at 2:13 a.m. near the intersection of Route 41 and Route 60 after a cop on patrol witnessed him driving a white sedan 92 mph in a 55 mph zone. Police pulled over the car, spoke to the driver and smelled marijuana. They took the driver out of the car and placed him under arrest for speeding before recovering undisclosed drug paraphernalia from inside the driver's side area of the vehicle. The man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding more than 35 mph over the speed limit.
Mary P. Fratesi, 58, of the 1200 block of Edgewood Road, was arrested on a Cook County theft warrant on Dec. 3 at 6:07 p.m. at her home. Cops were checking on a report of an abandoned vehicle on her block. When they ran the plates on the car, they found its registered owner had an active arrest warrant. Police said Fratesi told them it was her car and they determined she was the person wanted in Cook County.
