Short story writers Hannah Pittard and Sandra Novack have released their first novels. Together they will visit our library to talk about their writing and to read from the debut books. Both authors live in the Chicagoland area; Ms. Pittard currently teaches fiction at DePaul University.
- Sandra Novack’s book Precious: A Novel was awarded Booklist’s Top 10 First Novels of 2009. The book is set in a small Pennsylvania town in 1978 and tells the story of the crumbling of two families. Her next book, Everyone But You will be available in hardcover September 13, 2011.
- The Fates Will Find Their Way by Hannah Pittard is reviewed by The Financial Times which states, “It’s hard to imagine a better debut this year.” (2011) The story plays out a number of possibilities of what happened to a kidnapped girl and how her disappearance affects those around her.
