Gorton Holds Annual Block Party And Movie Under The Stars
Dance into fall with food, fun, music and a movie at the Gorton Community Center's free end-of-summer event Sept. 15.

From Gorton Community Center:Newer, bigger, and better than ever—Gorton Community Center is hosting its free end-of- summer annual Block Party and Movie Under the Stars on Saturday, September 15. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and your entire family!
Food and entertainment are at the core of this fun event—rain or shine—and Gorton has pulled out all of the stops to woo the crowds once again. Smokin’ T’s Barbecue and Sauced Pizza will be on hand to tempt local tummies, while LoMastro Performing Arts Academy and the band Nouveau will have everyone on their feet. The Wildlife Discovery center, face painters, and balloon artists will keep children entertained so their parents can enjoy this true community event.
At sundown, Gorton will screen “How to Train Your Dragon,” a 2010 American 3D computer- animated action fantasy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures. Loosely based on the 2003 book by Cressida Cowell, the film was directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, the duo who wrote and directed Walt Disney Animation Studios' 2002 film Lilo & Stitch. The story takes place in a mythical Viking world where a young Viking teenager named Hiccup aspires to follow his tribe’s tradition of becoming a dragon slayer. After finally capturing his first dragon, and with his chance at last of gaining the tribe's acceptance, he finds that he no longer wants to kill the dragon and instead befriends it.
