House Tours Open Your Mind to New Possibilities While Supporting a Cause

Every spring, charitable organizations open doors to raise money. And nothing inspires your design aspirations more than a showcase house. So grab a friend or treat your mom to lunch and a “walk” – and do your part to support two great local non-profits.

Every other year since 1985, the Lake Forest Auxiliary Chapter of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago has hosted a designer Showhouse & Gardens in Lake Forest.

This year’s design destination will be Thorndale Manor and Coach House, and will feature the inspiring visions of 43 interior and landscape designers. For three weeks, starting April 29 with the kick-off Preview Party through May 22, you can tour the Manor.

Show your school spirit and join the Spirit of District 67 Foundation for its ninth annual Home Tour on May 5. Each year this fundraising event raises significant funds to support ongoing educational and cultural enrichment experiences for students, parents, faculty and staff.

This year’s tour will showcase two heritage homes and two homes known for the architecture and design significance – all in Lake Forest. Tickets are available online before 5 p.m. April 28 or the day of the event at either Caputo’s or Lovell’s.

The foundation is still looking for volunteers to staff the event (with the added bonus of $5 off your ticket price for your time).
