'Incoherent' Driver Covered In Vomit, Charged With DUI: Blotter

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest Police Department as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

BEER BOTTLE BLEEDING

A 55-year-old Lake Forest man was found by police walking down Green Bay Road in the early morning hours of Jan. 1. He was believed to have been "struck in the head with a blunt object, possible a beer bottle" while at a home in the 200 block of Butler Drive. He was taken to Lake Forest Hospital and police continue to investigate the incident.

Police found two dead people in a parking lot in the 600 block of North Western Avenue after receiving a call of gunfire around 6:20 a.m. on Jan. 3. Police found a deceased presumed murderer and his female victim, a 27-year-old Lake Forest resident. Police said they are continuing to investigate but said evidence "gathered at the scene and through further police investigation indicates this was a domestic related incident between the two individuals."

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Kevin Salamanca, 29, of the 3000 block of South St. Louis Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 10:26 p.m. on Dec. 16 near the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane and charged with driving under the influence, without a license and with an open container of alcohol. Someone called 911 about a dangerous driver in a silver Nissan headed northbound from Deerfield Road. Police pulled over the car after witnessing it commit a serious of traffic offenses and said they could smell alcohol coming from inside the car. Police said Salamanca explained he did not have a license and failed field sobriety tests.

A 18-year-old Lake Bluff man and a 19-year-old Racine, Wisconsin man were pulled over and cited for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and being minors in possession of alcohol. Police said they witnessed a silver Kia commit a traffic offense near route 60 and Waukegan Road. When they pulled over the car, police said they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle right away. The driver "denied knowing why the officers smelled marijuana coming from the car and stated there was non." Police said they found a glass gar containing cannabis, several "Vape pens used for smoking liquid THC, several others items of drug paraphernalia as well as a half empty 750ml bottle of liquor."

Mark Dudko, 56, of the 100 block of Glen Lake Avenue, Park Ridge, was arrested at 11:54 p.m. on Dec. 21 and charged with driving under the influence and alcohol. He was also cited for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. Police said they got a complaint about a maroon Porche driving dangerously. They intercepted the car on Route 41 near Old Elm Road and witnessed it commit several traffic violations. Police spoke o the driver and found him to be "incoherent, confused, and with vomit on his shirt." Police said Dudko said he was diabetic so officers called for medical services. Then, while investigating, polcie found drug paraphernalia, a small amount of cannabis and determined Dudko had been drinking as well. They conducted some field sobriety tests and arrested him for DUI.

A 21-year-old Lake Forest man was pulled over near the intersection of Oak Knoll Drive and West Everett Road around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 24. Police said he was seen driving with a single operational headline and pulled him over. The driver smelled of marijuana and when police questioned him about it, he provided them a small container with some cannabis remnants.

A 21-year-old Waukegan man was arrested at 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 near the intersection of Route 60 and Ridge Road after police pulled him over for an equipment violation and expired plates and determined he was also driving without insurance or a license. He was charged with driving with a suspended license, as well as an insurance and registration violations.

Jennifer Helen Williams, 29, of the 0-100 block of Sandpiper Lane, Lake Forest was arrested at 4:40 a.m. on Dec. 1 in the 100 block of Barnswallow Lane and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said they got a call an SUV crashed into another, parked SUV. Firefighters and police respected after the parked SUV's owner called 911 to say airbags had been deployed and it looked like the driver was intoxicated. The driver, Williams, refused treatment at the scene. She was taken back to the public safety building for further questioning and determined to have been drunk, according to police.
