Snow Tracks Lead To Wheaton Suspect: Lake Forest Crime Reports

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest Police Department as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 26-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 1:20 a.m. on Dec. 7 near the intersection of Route 41 and Deerpath Road and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop.

A 36-year-old Waukegan woman was arrested shortly before 11 p.m. on Dec. 8 near the intersection of Route 41 and Westleigh Road and charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis following a traffic stop. Police pulled her over driving 80 mph in a 55 mph zone and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside her car. They also learned she had a concealed carry license and a legally possessed handgun in her purse. Police also found a container with more than 40 grams of cannabis inside the center console and the driver was arrested. She was also ticketed for speeding and driving an uninsured vehicle.
An 18-year-old Lake Forest man and an 18-year-old Lake Forest woman were issued administrative hearing citations after officers on patrol noticed a vehicle parked at Forest Park after it closed. Cops immediately smelled marijuana in the vehicle and found it in two containers, two glass pipes and a cannabis grinder inside the vehicle.

Julio C. Mundo, 22, of the 1900 block of Apache Road, Waukegan, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. on Dec. 11 near the intersection of Route 41 and Rockland Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said they saw him driving a minivan 82 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. When they pulled him over, they smelled alcohol on him and noticed he seemed impaired. He failed field sobriety tests, was arrested and later recorded a breath sample with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.156 – nearly twice the legal limit.
Douglas Alexander, 50, of the 800 block of East Indiana Street, Wheaton, was arrested at 2:03 a.m. on Dec. 14 near the intersection of Ash Lawn Drive and Monticello Circle and charged with two counts of trespassing. Cops were called to a report that unidentified men were trying to enter parked cars. Officers found a fresh set of tire tracks in the snow and tracked down a suspect vehicle in the area of Lexington Drive and Inverlieth Road. They saw Alexander walking away from a vehicle parked on a driveway on Lexington, detained him and began searching for the second suspect.

Lake County Sheriff's Office K-9 Dax was called in and tracked the other suspect's trail all the way to Route 176 west of Waukegan Road but the trail ended.
Police arrested Alexander, located additional burglarized vehicles, contacted potential victims and charged him with two counts of criminal trespass to vehicle, a misdemeanor.
