Knauz MINI to Sponsor Teen Safe Driving Event
Say goodbye to distractions and hello to safe driving!

Knauz MINI, Lake Bluff, Illinois has announced plans to sponsor a Teen Driving MINI Clinic on Saturday, October 3, 2015, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm in the parking lot of Christ Church Crossroads, 1350 Route 137, Grayslake, rain or shine. Knauz MINI has partnered with Indianapolis-based performance driving school, Miles Ahead to promote safe driving skills while educating young drivers about possible dangers of driving and how to avoid accidents. Teenage drivers with either their learner’s permit or driver’s license may participate for a $5 fee with proceeds given to the Church’s Senior High Youth Group. The event is limited to the first 150 registrants. Parents are welcome to attend.
“At Knauz, we are committed to safety first,” stated William Madden, President and CEO of Knauz Automotive Group. “The automobiles that we sell at the Autopark are some of the safest on the road. We know that driving is a very pleasurable experience but it can also be a very dangerous one. Knauz is delighted to work with Miles Ahead, an organization that is experienced with imparting safe driving skills to new and young drivers. They conduct the MINI Motoring School for MINI USA, employing a staff of internationally accomplished race car drivers who know firsthand, the dangers of driving at high speeds. This is a very important opportunity for the young people in our community.”
Teenage drivers may register for one of four, one-hour sessions beginning at noon. Each one-hour session begins with a brief classroom presentation about the dangers facing today’s young drivers on the road. Participants then proceed outside to drive a 2015 MINI John Cooper Works Hardtop through a special distraction and impairment course to personally experience, in a safe environment, the risks of driving distracted and impaired.
Attendees will receive a voucher for a 40% discount on a National Safety Council award winning computer-based safety program called teen SMART®. Studies have shown that the completion of the teenSMART training tool by teenage drivers reduces the chances of a collision by 25% - 30%. Some insurance companies offer premium discounts for its completion, including Liberty Mutual Insurance, Allstate, and AAA Insurance.
