Margaret Lynch “Peggy” Leider, age 76 of Lake Bluff, IL & Ocean Ridge FL, passed away March 23, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband M. James “Jim” Leider of 54 years, her children Michael, Mary “Michael” Barss, Mark “Kathryn”, and Meg “Mark” Kreuter and grandchildren Michael, Elizabeth, Christine, Catherine “Kit”, Liam, Colleen, Lily and Peter. She is also survived by her brother John, her sisters Judy and Kathryn, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her loving cat, Dolly, will sorely miss her.

She was the daughter of the late Aloysius and Christine Lynch of Athens, PA. Peggy attended Westchester College and Penn State University and met her husband Jim at Cornell University. She moved to Chicago to marry Jim, who worked in the family greenhouse business. She raised her family in Deerfield, and later moved to Lake Bluff to be closer to her grandchildren. Later on in life, Jim and Peggy made their home in Ocean Ridge FL, where they enjoyed the warmer winters.

Peggy dedicated many hours of her time as a member of several organizations: Chicago Botanic Garden Women’s Board, Ravinia Festival Women’s Board and the Northwestern University Women’s Board. She was an avid golfer, gardener, and bridge player. She had an endless love for travel with her family and friends.

Despite an incredibly long and difficult battle with cancer, her strength and perseverance was an inspiration to those who were blessed to know her. Peggy loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was very proud of all of them and their accomplishments, including carrying on the family business to the 4th generation. Spending time with her family was so important to her, and happily she spent her final days with them.

Contributions in her memory may be made to your favorite charity or the Chicago Botanic Garden.

A memorial service celebrating Peggy’s life will be forthcoming in the spring.
