Lake Forest Beaches Closed, Concert Canceled Due To Poor Air Quality

LAKE FOREST, IL — Lake Forest beaches are closed and activities are canceled due to poor air quality.

Current air quality levels have reached a range considered unhealthy, particularly for children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and people with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions, according to the city. Outdoor activities, including swimming, sunbathing, and recreational sports, are not recommended until air quality improves.

In Lake Forest, Forest Park Beach is closed and outdoor rec programs have been moved inside. The city also canceled Thursday's Concert in the Square.

The city said the closures will remain in effect until air quality conditions improve to levels considered safe for public recreation. Conditions are being closely monitored, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

The advisory affects both residents and visitors planning time outdoors at the lakefront.
