Lake Bluff Takes The Plunge, Set To Open Swimming Pool

The Lake Bluff Park District board committed to open the pool if residents purchase more than $75,000 worth of paid memberships.

LAKE BLUFF, IL — Amid a summer of Covid-19 closings and cancellations, the Lake Bluff Park District staff is making preparations and training lifeguards to open their outdoor pool in Phase 4 of JB Pritzker’s Restore Illinois plan. On Monday Night, the Park District Board committed to the residents that they will open the pool if there is enough interest from the community. That interest needs to come in the format of paid memberships totaling at least $75,000 to make opening the pool worthwhile. They are well on their way.

Chris Mosbarger, Lake Bluff Park District Board President said “In a time where everything is cancelled and shut down, we wanted to offer our residents a safe alternative to enjoy during the summer months.” The Lake Bluff pool will offer memberships to residents and non-residents as well as a limited number of day passes.

The pool features 25 yard and 50 meter lap lanes as well as a diving well and tot pool. Operations will be different this year, running a staggered schedule for entry with disinfection procedures every 2 hours for 30 minutes. Superintendent of Recreation Jim Lakeman guarantees: “Staff is taking every safety precaution and will be following IDPH guidelines every step of the way to ensure a safe and fun summer at the pool.”
