Lake County Sheriff Invites Middle School Students To Help Name 'Rookie K-9s'

Middle school students will have the chance to name three, new police dogs who'll be joining the sheriff's department in April.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office School Safety Team invites middle school students to participate in a rookie K9 naming contest for three new police dogs who’ll be joining the force in early April.

The contest is open to sixth- through eighth graders throughout Lake County, including students who are homeschooled and those in public and parochial schools.

The K-9 Rookie Naming Contest rules require the following:

  • Participating students be enrolled in a Lake County Middle School within the jurisdiction of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office
  • K-9 names must be one or two-syllable
  • Entries must be received no later than March 4, 2015

The winning names will be announced two weeks following the entry deadline.
