Join us in exploring the period when Lake Forest Country Day School was founded. The devastation of the Civil War created a vacuum into which stepped the entrepreneurial opportunists of the Gilded Age. This era (1870-1914) witnessed the rough and tumble birth of America’s new identity as “The United States” with industrial innovations, incredible wealth and profound social upheaval.

Meet the Palmers, Armours, Burnhams and others as Chicago takes the world stage. Speaker Heide Olson has studied the Civil War and Gilded Age for over 20 years and teaches at the College of Lake County.
