Lake Forest High School Wins Thriller With Last Minute Drive
The quarterfinal victory sends the Scouts to the state semifinals for the first time since 2012.
LAKE FOREST, IL — The Lake Forest High School football team rallied from a 14-point deficit to defeat Prairie Ridge High School Friday in the quarterfinals of the IHSA Class 6A state championship tournament, sending the Scouts to their first state semifinal in nine years.
The Prairie Ridge Wolves, of Crystal Lake, dominated possession, holding the ball for more than 70 percent of the game.
But late in the fourth quarter, Prairie Ridge were leading by 7 points and had the ball deep in Lake Forest territory when the Wolves running back fumbled the ball, the Daily Herald reported, which led to an 11-play, 92-yard drive that ended with the Scouts up 22-21 and 14 seconds on the clock.
