Lake Forest Station Pop-Up Shop Returns For 2021 Holiday Season

LAKE FOREST, IL — The Lake Forest Station seasonal pop-up shop returns to the East Lake Forest Train Station this month for a second year.

The city-sponsored effort provides a venue for more than a dozen local nonprofit organizations to sell branded items and raise awareness of their work in the community during the holiday season.

Proceeds from items purchased from the nonprofits will go directly to the groups, while the net profit from the pop-up will also be distributed to the participating organizations.

Marly Subido, volunteer manager at the Mothers Trust Foundation, said in a statement that she and other members of the social services organization were thrilled to be a part of Lake Forest Station for another holiday season.

“It is a wonderful way for us to share our mission and give shoppers the opportunity to give a gift that will give again," Subido said. "Much of the proceeds from our sales and donations will help us fund utilities and stable housing so families may stay warm this winter.”

Staffed by volunteers from the 14 nonprofits, Lake Forest Station opens Nov. 24 and will operate on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 30.

The shop will be open on certain weekdays for special shopping days, and live performances and special events are scheduled for Saturdays, according to organizers.

A collection of limited edition Lake Forest merchandise will also be available for purchase at the shop, according to city staff.
