Lake Forest Symphony Director Resigns

Susan Lape will move on to a new role with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras.

LAKE FOREST, IL - Susan Lape, executive director of the Lake Forest Symphony, will resign from her post on March 1 after accepting a position as the executive director of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, the nation’s premier youth orchestra program.

Lape has been at the helm of the Lake Forest Symphony since 2012 and has compiled a list of accomplishments including new educational and community offerings since then, according to a news release from the Symphony.

“I am so proud of all we have accomplished together at the Lake Forest Symphony.” said Lape. “It was an honor to serve at the helm of this organization during such an exciting time in its history. I will miss our LFS musicians, board, and staff and am so grateful to all who have contributed to our efforts over the past four seasons.”

Stewart Kerr, the newly appointed Lake Forest Symphony board president, will lead the search for Lape’s replacement.

“Susan’s leadership has positioned us extremely well for the future.” Kerr said. “We now have a diverse range of programming which will serve our community through music for many decades to come.”
