The Left Bank Switches Owners

Popular hot dog joint south of Market Square had been in Pasquesi hands for more than a half-century.

After 52 years in the Pasquesi family, the hot dog joint on the narrow Bank Lane just south of Market Square will see a different owner, Robin Comerford, soon.

Bob Pasquesi, 91, and his wife Gert founded Left Bank in 1963, according to the Lake Forester. Bob’s grandson, Lane bought it in 2000 and has owned it ever since.

“I’m going to take a little time off and regroup,” Lane said. “After I get off this carnival ride, I don’t know what’s next.”

Even before he owned it in 2000, Lane had worked at Left Bank his entire life and actually made his first stop there after being born at Lake Forest Hospital.

The last day at the old Left Bank was Friday, August 28. Fans of the longtime eatery offered their support on The Left Bank Facebook page.

“I hope the tradition of excellence started by the Pasquesi family continues....It has been one of our favorites for decades!,” said John.

“That has been a landmark for as long as i can remember!” added Linette.

Comerford has worked at The Lantern restaurant in Lake Forest while attending Barat College and has done event planning for a group of restaurants.

She also works part-time at the circulation desk at the Lake Forest Library.
