Northbrook Bank Delivers Leadership Donation at YMCA Strong Kids Fundraiser
Community bank provides $10,000 for Strong Kids Fund, helping families in need participate in YMCA programs and benefits.

Northbrook Bank & Trust, a Wintrust Community Bank, has made a major donation of $10,000 to the North Suburban YMCA’s Strong Kids Fund. The donation will make YMCA programs accessible to families in financial need, including after-school care, camps, and the full range of Y health and enrichment programs. The donation was presented by Northbrook Bank CEO Doug Boersma and Vice Chairman Richard C. Rushkewicz at the Y’s Ninth Annual Key & Alta Thiel Strong Kids Fundraiser on February 26.
Northbrook Bank & Trust has had a longstanding relationship with the North Suburban YMCA, including past support for the Strong Kids Fund and the Y’s Capital Campaign. This new donation will have a significant impact on the lives of hundreds of children and adults, who receive need-based fee abatements for Y programs with the support of donations. Approximately one out of five participants at the North Suburban Y receive assistance from the Strong Kids Fund, an annual expense of approximately $520,000 every year.
“We are so grateful to have Northbrook Bank & Trust as a loyal and generous supporter of our Y,” said Howard Schultz, NSYMCA Executive Director/CEO. “They have stood by us for years as donors, advisers, and leaders on our Board of Directors. Community partners like Northbrook Bank make it possible for us to serve everyone who wants to benefit from our programs.”

“As Northbrook’s oldest and largest community bank, we are committed to being there for those who need help,” noted Rushkewicz. “Northbrook Bank and Wintrust are happy to serve rather than be served by contributing time, talent, and financial resources to deserving causes like the Strong Kids’ event.”
