Prosecutors decline to file charges over gun found during warrant arrest; 911 caller alerts cops to DUI driver: Lake Forest Police Blotter

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police and Lake County court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Najam Al Din, 47, of the 7700 block of Southshore Drive, Chicago, was arrested around 4 p.m. on March 25 in the 100 block of Oxford Road and charged with possession of a stun gun without a Firearm Owners Identification Card after police got a call of a suspicious person on a red bicycle riding into the backyard of a vacant house. Officers said all the windows and doors were locked but noticed a red bike in the garage and an air mattress on the living room floor. Police reported that Al Din's story about what he was doing in the vacant house did not match what the realtor told them. He and the woman he identified as his wife were both issued trespass warnings.
A 30-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 12:15 a.m. on April 3 in the 1100 block of Sir William Lane and charged with driving with a suspended license and suspended vehicle registration.

A 30-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 8:45 p.m. on April 4 near the intersection of Route 41 and Westleigh Road and charged with driving with a suspended license.
Ryan Foley, 24, of the 400 block of Holland Court, Lake Forest, was arrested around 2 a.m. on April 7 near the intersection of Waukegan and Deerpath roads and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after officers got a call that the driver of a maroon pickup appeared to be drunk and had trouble standing as he left a gas station on Waukegan Road. He was also ticketed or improper lane usage. Although he claimed to not have been drinking, police reported Foley smelled strongly of alcohol. Back at the station he provided a breath sample indicating his breath alcohol concentration was 0.223, or nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol intoxication.

A 49-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on April 8 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop on Route 41 at Deerpath Road. He was also ticketed for running a red light.
Brandon M. Webb, 35, of the 14300 block of South Union Avenue, Riverdale, was arrested around 7:45 p.m. on April 9 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a revoked license following an investigation into a traffic crash at Route 41 and Old Elm Road. Police reported Webb fled the scene of the crash and was later stopped by sheriff's deputies near Route 173 and Delaney Road and admitted being the hit-and-run driver involved the earlier crash. He was also issued citations for no vehicle insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
Angus J. Johnston, 43, of the 900 block of Shermer Road, Northbrook, was arrested on the afternoon of April 11 and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in connection with an incident at Deerpath Middle School, 95 Deer Path Road. Police reported that Johnston and another person had harassed and verbally assaulted school employees, who said Johnson was acting like he wanted to hit somebody and refused to leave until he was told that school staff had called the police. Lake Forest police investigated the incident on behalf of Lake Forest School District 67 and arrested Johnston when he came to the district offices.
Alan C. Williams Jr., 20, of the 2800 block of West Jackson Street, Chicago, was arrested around 10 p.m. on April 12 following a traffic stop on a car with rear no license plate at Route 41 and Gage Lane. Officers learned that Williams was wanted on an arrest warrant stemming from charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in Zion last month. During the arrest, officers reported they smelled cannabis and searched the car, which revealed a loaded 9mm handgun. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office declined to pursue felony charges over that gun, and Williams was issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and unlawful possession of cannabis.
Cey R. Stancle, 47, of the 14600 block of Michigan Avenue, Dolton, was arrested shortly after midnight on April 15 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. Officers got a driving complaint about the Chevrolet Suburban he was driving, and Stancle admitted he had been drinking and did not have a license because it had been revoked due to a previous DUI. He was taken into custody on charges of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a revoked license. Officers also issued him citations for unlawful possession of cannabis and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
