Registration Open for Summer Camps at North Suburban YMCA

The NSYMCA in Northbrook offers variety, flexibility, and quality in day camp programs for kids in preschool through junior high.

Registration is now open for summer day camps at the North Suburban YMCA, with a wide variety of programs for children in preschool through junior high. The 2015 camp guide, available at www.nsymca.org, includes a host of traditional camps as well as new specialty programs in art, photography, and even forensic science. All camps are held at the North Suburban Y’s expansive campus, located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook.

YMCA camp programs offer fun, active experiences with an opportunity to explore, meet new friends, and discover new interests. At the NSYMCA, campers take full advantage of the Y’s indoor pool, large gyms, outdoor sports fields, and appealing playground equipment. Many camps also offer weekly field trips to exciting venues around the Chicago suburbs. All camp activities are run by highly trained counselors under the supervision of the Y’s experienced professional staff.

In addition to offering great variety to inspire young campers, NSYMCA camps also deliver flexibility and affordability that appeals to parents. Campers can sign up for sessions by the week, accommodating family vacations and enabling kids to sample different Y programs. The Y offers half day and full day camps, before- and after-camp childcare, and even transportation from Northbrook summer schools for afternoon camps. All these options create a truly customized experience to work with any family’s situation.

“We’re constantly looking for innovative ways to make our camps more enjoyable for kids and more supportive of parents,” notes Frank Lenardi, NSYMCA Camp Director. “Our programs are designed to encourage curiosity, self-confidence, and social growth, in a safe, nurturing environment. Parents have confidence that their children will have a positive experience at the Y, and our flexibility makes it easy for families to plan their schedules.”

Families who are interested in learning more about NSYMCA summer camps are invited to join staff and campers from last summer at the Y’s annual Camp Reunion on January 25, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Children will enjoy fun camp-style activities and snacks while parents have the chance to meet with counselors and camp leadership and tour the Y facility. Parents who register during the reunion will be entered in a drawing to win a free week of camp, a value of up to $210.
