Alcohol Likely a Factor in Crash That Critically Injured 1: Police

The two-car crash happened Sunday night in Beach Park.

A 27-year-old Waukegan man was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night in Beach Park.

A preliminary investigation shows a 2009 Honda Civic was traveling south on Sheridan Road near Wadsworth Road in “a reckless manner” at 10:12 p.m. Sunday when the driver of the Honda rear-ended a southbound 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release. The Honda rolled over.

The driver of the Honda, the 27-year-old Waukegan man, was taken to Vista East Hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 29 year-old Waukegan man, was transported to Vista East Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
