- Where/When: 203 N. Genesee St., Waukegan; 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday (April 8-9); 4 p.m. Sunday (April 10).
- Why Go: Enjoy Latin films from Argentina, Spain and Mexico among various genres including thriller, comedy and historical drama. Different films will be shown each day of the festival.
- Pricing: $8 for adults, $6 for students with valid I.D. Three-day passes also available for $20 and $15 for adults and students, respectively.
- Where/When: 915 S. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest; 8 p.m. Friday (April 8).
- Why Go: Enjoy a nice meal upstairs, and then head down to the room known as Captain’s Quarters for a jazzy live musical evening with The Acoustic Blues, and Donna Herula and Tony Nardiello (duo).
- Pricing: Open to the public.
- Where/When: 412 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville; 10 p.m. Friday (April 8).
- Why Go: Check out high-energy rock band foursome from south Chicago as it performs an entertaining live show.
- Pricing: $5 at the door.
Freddy Jones Band at Viper Alley
- Where/When: 275 Parkway Drive, Lincolnshire; 8:15 p.m. Saturday (April 9).
- Why Go: Get out and enjoy the legendary tunes of this roots-rock specialized band, reminiscent of the Dave Matthews and Allman Brothers Bands.
- Pricing: $30 for single tickets.
Karen Rontowski Performs Stand-up Comedy
- Where/When: 230 Hawthorn Village Commons, Vernon Hills; 8 and 10 p.m. FRiday (April 8).
- Why Go: It will likely be worth the trip to Zanies to see the comic popularly described as a “New Age Hippie.” Rontowski is exceptional in that her humor is clean, hopeful and lighthearted. The comedienne has opened for classics like Bob Hope and Ray Charles.
- Pricing: Single tickets $24.
Spring Ahead Scramble at Bonnie Brook Golf Course
- Where/When: 2800 N. Lewis Ave., Waukegan; 10 a.m. Saturday (April 9).
- Why Go: Kick-off the golf season by competing in this four-person scramble. Food, entertainment and prizes ensue at the resident bar & grill upon completion of the event.
- Pricing: $19 entry fee plus green fees.
