U.S. 41 & Elm To Be 4-Way Stop Until Signal is Repaired

Car hit traffic cabinet Saturday morning. Delays could begin Monday.

The intersection of US 41 and Old Elm Street in Lake Forest will be a four-way flashing red stop until repairs are made after the traffic signal cabinet was hit by a car Saturday morning, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced.

IDOT’s electrical maintenance contractor installed a temporary traffic control box on Saturday, with plans for a permanent one to be implemented on Monday.

The intersection, which is interconnected with the Union Pacific Railroad, will continue flashing through Monday until testing is completed with the railroad. Railroad gates are functioning normally, and there are no road closures.
