Victim Identified In Fatal Shooting In North Chicago
A 21-year-old Zion woman died after she was shot in the neck early Wednesday at a scene of a street fight, authorities said.
NORTH CHICAGO, IL — The woman who was shot and killed Wednesday in North Chicago was identified as 21-year-old Zion resident Tytionna Russell, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of 17th Street and Park Avenue, where a 911 caller reported gunfire and a group of people fighting in the street, according to the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, which is investigating the apparent homicide.
Officers found Russell inside a silver Chevy Impala, where a man was attempting to render aid.

Russell had suffered a gunshot wound to the neck but was still alive. She was rushed to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, where she was pronounced dead around 2 a.m.
A spokesperson for the task force said her shooting is believed to be "directly correlated to the fight."

The preliminary results of an autopsy conducted in the afternoon indicate the wound was the cause of her death, according to the coroner's office.
Bullets also struck two cars and a home in the 1700 block of Park Avenue in the shooting, according to a statement from the task force.
No charges have yet been filed in the case, and a task force spokesperson declined to say if investigators have identified the person who carried out the shooting or whether any guns were recovered from the scene.
