One year ago, the U.S. Supreme Court gutted key provisions of the Voting Rights Act leaving room for discrimination at the ballot box. In January, a bipartisan group of legislators introduced amendments, a workable solution that would modernize the elections process and protect voting rights against discrimination. This week the Senate held a hearing. Now it is time for the House of Representatives to move this bill forward. In the November election there will be some voters that encounter discrimination.
