Waukegan Mariachi Festival Offers Night of Music and Culture

More Than 100 Waukegan Students Perform in the Festival

The voices, instruments and colorful costumes of the 100-plus students who participated in Waukegan’s May 10 Mariachi Festival brought the music and culture of mariachi to life. The event took place at Waukegan High School’s Brookside Campus, bringing together families, community members and friends for a night of music, dancing and singing.

Lake Forest-based nonprofit Bravo Waukegan was a sponsor of the event and also sponsors Waukegan’s five mariachi after-school clubs that performed in the festival. Bravo’s mission is to support music in the Waukegan public schools by providing needed resources to students and teachers of District 60.
