Whistle-stop Wonderland: A Model Train Exhibit

Open through mid-January at the History Center in Lake Forest

If you're a fan of the trains at the Silo and Lantern, you'll love the History Center's new model train exhibition. This special holiday event showcases a large electric train display in the Hunter Family Education Hall, put together by the Midwest RAILS RR Club, plus dozens of stationary model trains on display in the Katherine Bell Hale Gallery and a brief history of model train making. Model train loans are mostly from local residents and affiliates of the History Center.

Choo Choo's and Chew Chews hot chocolate parties will be on Saturday, Dec 9 and 16 from 1-4pm. Trains will also be running in January. Please check our website for dates as they become available. If you're looking for a family-friendly activity this weekend, stop by the History Center and enjoy hot chocolate, desserts, games and activities for the kids. Here's the best part: Admission is free, everyone is welcome!

NOTE: The exhibit is also open for viewing Tuesday through Thursday during History Center office hours (10-4pm), but the electric train will only run on the two specified Saturdays and on a few afternoons in January . Feel free to call the museum during open hours (847.234.5253) to check on other potential run times.
