Woman Charged With Over 100 Grams Of Heroin, Weed: Blotters

LAKE FOREST-LAKE BLUFF, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police departments and court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

ARRESTS

A 21-year-old Milwaukee woman was issued a citation for possession of cannabis on Feb. 14 after officers pulled her over for speeding in the area of Route 60 and Suffolk Lane and smelled marijuana coming from inside her car.

A 52-year-old Wilmette woman was arrested around 2 a.m. on Feb. 15 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop in the area of Westleigh and Buena roads for a registration issue. The driver was determined to have a license that expired in 2011 and a warrant issued by DuPage County for failing to appear in court in connection with another charge of driving without a valid license or insurance following an arrest in Downers Grove last April.

A 20-year-old Highwood woman was pulled over shortly after midnight on Feb. 16 in the area of Sheridan Road and McCormick drive for an equipment violation and issued citations for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia after officers smelled marijuana and discovered a pipe.

Jennifer L. Maiden, 47, of the 900 block of Manchester Circle, Grayslake, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Feb. 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the area of Route 41 and Gage Lane. She was also issued a citation for improper lane usage. Officers reported smelling alcohol and arresting her after she completed a field sobriety test. Police said she refused a breath test at the station.

A 30-year-old Waukegan woman was arrested at 6:10 p.m. on Feb. 19 and charged with driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop for driving 47 mph in a 35 mph zone in the area of Everett Road and Arcady Drive. The driver was also ticketed for speeding.

A 33-year-old Morton Grove woman was arrested around 11 a.m. on Feb. 20 in the area of Deerpath and Waukegan roads and charged with driving with a suspended license and with suspended registration. She was also issued a citation for use of a cell phone while driving.

David A. Lee, 76, of the 1900 block of Thornwood Lane, Northbrook, was charged with battery after a 48-year-old woman told police Lee had grabbed her arms in an attempt to push her out of his watch repair shop on East Center Avenue and asked to press charges.

A 19-year-old Mundelein man was arrested at 4:36 a.m. on Feb. 22 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop for driving 74 mph in a 45 mph zone in the area of Route 60 and Ridge Road.

Rudy E. Gutierrez, 26, of the 4600 block of Winchester Avenue, Lyons, was arrested on Feb. 22 and charged with two counts of retail theft and obstruction of justice after police were called to the CVS Pharmacy, 520 Western Ave., for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Officers were told a man had run out of the store with merchandise. Police found Gutierrez walking on Vine Avenue in possession of several packages of cold medicine worth more than $500. He initially gave officers a fake name, police said, but he was later identified and charged with three felonies — retail theft of more than $300, theft with previous convictions and obstruction of justice by destroying evidence. Officers also learned he had active warrants from Will and Grundy counties in connection with failing to appear in court on previous theft charges.

A 26-year-old Lindenhurst woman was arrested around 10 p.m. on Feb. 22 and charged with driving with a suspended license, expired registration and no insurance after officers noticed the expired plates and pulled her over in the area of Route 41 and Old Elm Road.

Devansh Datt, 31, of the 1700 block of Nape Drive, Gurnee, was arrested at 4:19 a.m. on Feb. 23 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia following an investigation into a one-car crash in the area of Route 41 and Old Elm Road. Police reported Datt was still in the driver's seat and explained he was "unsure" how he had crashed but suggested he "may have" passed out behind the wheel. Officers noticed the "strong odor" of alcohol and reported Datt was showing obvious signs of being drunk. He was arrested and taken to the station, where he provided a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol concentration of 0.113, above the legal limit. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Yesenia Argudin, 29, of the 2600 block of West 44th Street, Chicago, was arrested around 1 a.m. on March 1 following a traffic stop for an equipment violation in the area of Route 41 and Westleigh Road. Officers immediately smelled marijuana and noticed a bag with a suspected fresh cannabis in a cup holder. Argudin and a passenger were asked to step out of the car, and police reported a search revealed several bags of marijuana, THC-infused food that Argudin admitted making and packaging for resale using online resources, several vaporizer cartridges containing THC oil and several substances that tested positive for heroin. She was charged with three felonies, possession of 100 to 400 grams of heroin, manufacture or delivery of 30 to 500 grams of cannabis and possession of 100 to 500 grams of cannabis. Authorities also sought the forfeiture of $3,015 police reported finding in separate cash bundles.

Angel Coralzaca-Chanalata, 31, of the 3800 block of West Roscoe Street, Chicago, was arrested at 6 a.m. on March 3 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police got a call about a car stopped in the road with the driver possibly asleep near Lake Forest High School. Officers found Coralzaca-Chanalata asleep behind the wheel of a running car in the area of McKinley Road and Park Avenue, woke him up and learned he had drank 10 beers before driving. Officer also found a plastic bag containing suspected cannabis in the car. He later provided police with a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol concentration of 0.10, above the legal limit.

A 62-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 10:12 a.m. on March 6 in the 100 block of Deerpath Road and charged with driving without a valid license after he was pulled over for using a cell phone while driving, for which he was also issued a citation.

A 40-year-old North Chicago woman was arrested around 5:30 a.m. on March 7 and charged with driving without a valid license following an investigation into a crash with injuries at the intersection of Route 60 and Field Drive. Police reported the woman ran a red light and struck another vehicle. She was taken to the hospital for injuries from the crash and ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device.

Joshua D. Graham, 58, of the 800 block of Pamela Lane, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, was arrested at 8:39 p.m. on March 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he was pulled over for an equipment violation in the area of Waukegan Road and Route 22. Officers reported he smelled of alcohol and admitted drinking. He was arrested following field sobriety tests.

Ryan D. Connor, 35, of the 36500 block of North Marilyn Lane, Lake Villa, was arrested at 12:19 a.m. on March 10 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs following a traffic stop for speeding 79 mph in a posted 55 mph zone in the area of Route 60 and Waukegan Road. Officers reported he appeared impaired and he was arrested following field sobriety tests. He was also issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were issued citations for possession of cannabis, drug paraphernalia and a fake ID after officers responded to a residential alarm around 4:25 p.m. in the 500 block of Mayflower Road. Officers smelled marijuana while questioning the teens, discovered some cannabis, paraphernalia and a fake driver's license before citing them and releasing them to their parents.

Miguel M. Melchor, 21, of the 700 block of Wadsworth Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 5:30 a.m. on March 11 in the 800 block of Field Drive and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and without a valid license or insurance. Officers were dispatched to a call about a car that had crashed in a parking lot with a driver asleep inside. Police found a car sitting in a ditch with two flat front tires and Melchor asleep inside. Officers noticed the car smelled of booze and weed and reported eight to 10 empty beer cans were sitting on the floorboard. Melchor was arrested after officers asked him to perform field sobriety tests. He was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia.
