Woodlands Academy Honors Academic Excellence and Individual Achievements

Woodlands Academy has officially closed the book on this year’s first semester by recognizing academic excellence as well as, in the tradition of all Sacred Heart schools, student accomplishments.

During a Jan. 30 honors assembly at the all-girls college prep high school in Lake Forest, 30 awards were presented to students who maintained the highest scholastic average in each academic department. A similar number of achievement awards were presented in recognition of such things as creativity, dedication and initiative in the classroom.

In addition, a special Honor Award was presented to the student in each class who maintained the highest scholastic average for the semester:

· Senior Tara Gill of Libertyville

· Junior Molly Carmody of Lake Bluff

· Sophomore Arabella McMenamin Walshe of Highland Park

· Freshman Emily Molins of Wilmette

The student in each class whose grade point average showed the most improvement from last semester received a special Achievement Award:

· Senior Sophia Healey of Evanston

· Junior Mia Hagnell of Lake Bluff

· Sophomore Zhaojin Jiang of China

Another end-of-semester highlight at Woodlands was the recent presentation of the latest Sacred Heart awards. Two students from each grade and one faculty/staff member are nominated each quarter by a vote of the students for recognition of good conduct, good spirit, helpful influence and leadership. The second-quarter recipients are:

· Freshmen Genevieve Kerns of Wilmette and Destiny Salazar of Beach Park

· Sophomores Katie Bennett of Lake Forest and Jessica Jasso of Waukegan

· Juniors Ellie Randolph of Lake Forest and Erika Rodriguez of Cicero

· Seniors Vanessa Flores of Waukegan and Ana Santana of Round Lake

The faculty/staff Sacred Heart Award went to College Counselor Naomi Ewing of Glenview for “working tirelessly with the upperclassmen to help them pursue their post high-school goals always with understanding and compassion through the stressful process.”
