• Jury takes less than hour to convict Lakemoor father who shot son 5 times, killing him, later claimed he meant to shoot motorcycle (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A Lakemoor father has been convicted of first-degree murder for fatally shooting his 31-year-old son along Rand Road/Route 120 in the village, after jurors deliberated for less than an hour. The March 2025 shooting shut down Route 120 in both directions for hours and drew a large response from Lakemoor police and regional agencies; the father remains jailed awaiting November sentencing.
