3-Year-Old Chicago Boy Falls from 2nd-Story Window Onto Fence
The South Side child was impaled and is in critical condition.

A 3-year-old boy who was pushed out of an unscreened second-story window fell onto a sharp fence and was impaled through the torso late Monday on the South Side. Today, he’s in stable but critical condition at Comer Children’s Hospital.
The accident took place in the 7100 block of South Emerald in Englewood, according to authorities, at about 9 p.m. as the boy was playing with his cousins. His aunt told ABC Chicago that she and his mother removed him from the fence.
“He wasn’t crying or nothing,” she said. “He was talking to us and he was telling us, he kept on saying, ‘I want to sit up, I want to sit up,’ and we told him ‘Baby, you can’t sit up right now.’ I didn’t want to tell him what was going on with him to make him cry or anything.”
