Chicago Police Department will join Cubs' personnel in an exercise expected to last for seven hours.

Chicago, IL - Members of the Chicago Police Department are planning an active shooter training exercise at Wrigley Field on Thursday, July 14.

The police who are normally assigned to the district that's home to the stadium will be joined by the Chicago Fire Department and Chicago Cubs' security personnel from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day, 44th Ward Ald. Tom Tunney announced in a newsletter sent Friday.

"It is hoped that the success of this exercise will lead to a larger full-scale training exercise later in the year.," wrote Tunney, who added that more information on Thursday's exercise will be provided when it becomes available.
