There have been several publications that have reported news about the neighborhood of LakeView but never as exclusively and interactively as Lakeview Patch. I hope this online publication is successful in this age of 24-7 snippet news gathering.
Now, back in the day, in the 19th century when Lake View was a township major regional papers like the Chicago Daily News and the Chicago Tribune would report on the news of its northern neighbor. Columnists would call the area "the suburbs" or truncate the word 'township' to 'town' to refer to Lake View. In fact, even the name itself has had many spellings from the original Lake -space- View to Lakeview or my favorite Lake - capital V - iew.
Newspaper articles of the 19th and 20th century from the Chicago Public Library have been helpful in piecing together the photo images I have found during that time period from various sources including the Sulzer Regional Library for my historical Facebook Fan page called LakeView Historical.

One interesting source via Chicago Library has been from the Chicago Tribune archives as early as 1871 in an article called Lake View Matters. It was always a short and apparently weekly piece buried among other articles within the paper. There are always feature articles about the township and particularly the City of Lake View, but this blurb of a piece called Lake View Matters was constantly featured within the archives. I thought I would highlight it with a photo of it.
From the LakeviewPatch to Lake View Matters, to me, the neighborhood of LakeView will always matter.
