Looking to Garden, any suggestions?

After heading home to visit the family for the holiday weekend I have officially been bitten by the garden bug, I'm now ready to start up my flower and vegetable gardens this summer season.

So far I've discovered 'Fertile' via the web on Diversey to go and do some local shopping for my start up this season, does any one know of any other shops in the area that they recommend? Anywhere down Diversey or between Diversey and Belmont is still very close by for me. I definitely want to check out the local shops before hitting the larger hardware stores for your mass produced plants.

Also, any recommendation on what sort of veggies grow well in the area with the limited sunlight you get on a city balcony would be much appreciated. I'm pretty sure gardeners are at a premium these days, especially in the city, so any useful tips would be much appreciated!
