Southport Performing Arts Conservatory Completes Renovations in Lake View
Chicago's Southport Performing Arts Conservatory (SPACE) has completed renovations on their Lakeview location at 2936 N. Southport Ave. To celebrate, the conservatory is offering two free classes.
Renovations to Chicago’s Southport Performing Arts Conservatory (SPACE) in Chicago’s Lake View neighborhood have been completed just in time for the school’s upcoming eight-week spring session beginning March 4.
Located at 2936 N. Southport Avenue, the building's renovations include new soundproofing, the construction of three private music studios with vaulted walls, a new lighting system to enhance the experience of young dancers and musicians, a private entrance, as well as cosmetic upgrades.
To celebrate the renovation project, SPACE is offering two free classes when
students enroll in any music or dance classes at the Lake View location. This
special offer is good for all classes in Lake View from March 2013

The complete renovation, which took approximately three months to complete, serves to further enhance the learning experience of music and dance students while increasing the conservatory’s capacity to teach and nurture more young artists in the Chicago area.
Under the artistic direction of Altin Naska and Fusun Alpakin-Naska, SPACE has become one of the leading arts conservatories in the Chicago area. A European-style performing arts conservatory, SPACE was founded in 2005.

The school provides quality teaching from professional artists and experienced arts educators and offers a full-range of classes in music, dance and the dramatic arts. Since its inception eight years ago, SPACE has provided instruction to hundreds of
aspiring artists of all ages and all levels of artistic ability.
SPACE offers a variety of music and dance classes at their Lake View location, including individual and group instruction in music (piano, violin, cello, bass, guitar, flute, percussion and voice) and dance (ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip-hop and “Mommy and Me” classes for children 18-36 months of age which are specially designed to enhance the mother-child bonding experience).
The conservatory also offers music, dance and drama classes—like the fundamentals of acting, improvisation, scene study, movement and stage singing—at their Peterson Avenue studio located at 3433-37 W. Peterson Ave., Chicago.
