Uncle Dan's the Great Outdoor Store Helps Local Non-Profit with Bag Drive

Uncle Dan's The Great Outdoor Store has been collecting gently used backpacks and messenger bags to donate to 826CHI, a local non-profit. Each bag traded in receives a 20% discount on a new bag.

For the month of October, Uncle Dan’s The Great Outdoor Store has been collecting gently used backpacks and messenger bags to donate to 826CHI, a local  non-profit that operates afterschool workshops and writing programs. Uncle Dan’s has promoted the event in its three stores by highlighting a 20% discount on any new bag, with the donation of an old one. This has resulted in the donation of many bags and there is still time to help out, the promotion goes through October 31st.

Uncle Dan’s frequently works with local charities and businesses to give back to the community. In 2009, the Illinois Retail Merchants Association named Uncle Dan’s “Illinois Retailer of the Year.” The business was recognized for its commitment to support and improve the communities in which it operates. In the past, Uncle Dan’s has collected used backpacks for underserved youth, over 5,000 cans of food for the Chicago Food Depository, and over 9,000 coats for the One Warm Coat promotion.

The employees and staff at Uncle Dan’s look forward to creating and participating in more charitable events like this in the future.
