Police fire off shots in bizarre shootout near Wrigley Field. Over 80 shots reported fired between two groups of people.

A bizarre shootout in Wrigleyville early Sunday morning left several parked cars riddled with a bullets and one of the alleged combatants with a serious, but non-threatening gushot wound.
The shootout started around 3 a.m. near the intersection of Racine and Patterson, with over 80 shots being fired, police said.
Residents from as far as Uptown reported hearing gunfire.

Two 19th District police officers happened to be conducting a traffic stop in the 1100 block of West Patterson when they heard multiple gunshots being fired.
Police said the officers headed toward the gunfire when they saw two armed men running toward them down east Patterson. The officers discharged their weapons but missed them. The men dropped their weapons and fled, ABC 7 Chicago reported.

Later a man showed up at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston with a gunshot wound to the upper back. Police said he was not shot by either of the officers.
Other people also appear to be involved. Another man fled in a Dodge Charger smashing into several parked cars. The badly damaged car was later found abandoned in front of a Dunkin Donuts near Clark and Montrose, reportedly by a police officer on his way to pull duty guarding Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Ravenswood home.
Many neighborhood residents thought the popping sounds were fireworks or construction, news reports said.
Residents reported gunfire unusual for the neighborhood.
“I heard there was a party going on,” Kelly Frank told ABC 7, whose car was damaged in the incident. “Someone who was not invited was here (and) there was an altercation.”
Police blocked traffic on Racine a block west of Wrigley Field, as officers numbered shell casings, the Chicago Tribune said.
