DNA Connects Lake View Man to 2013 Rape: Prosecutors

The man allegedly picked up the intoxicated woman and attacked her at his apartment.

CHICAGO, IL - A Lake View man was arrested this week on accusations he raped a woman he picked up from a now-defunct nightclub more than three years ago.

Prosecutors say DNA evidence has provided the connection between the crime and 43-year-old Robert Walters, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.

Walters was charged with aggravated kidnapping and criminal sexual assault Monday and held on $5 million bail Tuesday for the alleged string of events that began outside the River North’s Castle Chicago nightclub in 2013.

The 21-year-old woman had been drinking and became separated from her friends when Walters offered to give her a ride home, prosecutors have claimed in court.

The victim fell in and out of consciousness during the ride and woke up to find herself outside a building that wasn’t hers. It was Walters’ apartment in the 600 block of West Diversey Place.
