Elderly Woman Robbed on Easter Morning in Lake View

Video surveillance captured the brutal attack inside an apartment building.


CHICAGO, IL - An elderly woman was robbed on Easter morning in Chicago’s Lake View neighborhood.

A surveillance video shows a man - described by police as Hispanic, between 39 and 44 years old and 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet in height, pushing the woman into a room then robbing her of some items just before 9 a.m. in the 3600 block of North Pine Grove Avenue.

During the robbery, the man appeared to be wearing a black knit hat and light blue sweater.

The victim, speaking to ABC Chicago on Monday, called her attacker "very sick."

"He's in nursing home for two years and I'm alone," she said.

"He not talk, nothing. Put me on the floor. Boom, boom, boom. Whole purse. He take it."

Community activist Andrew Holmes is offering a $1,000 reward for reliable information leading to the capture of the suspect, according to WGN.

The robbery occurred just before 9 a.m. on Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call Area North Detectives at 312-744-8263.
