Gunman Flees on CTA Train After Robbing Walgreens at Gunpoint
Reports say a black man left the store at Belmont and Sheffield with as much as $10,000.
CHICAGO, IL - The Walgreens at the corner of Belmont and Sheffield in Lake View was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday morning, and witnesses are saying the robbed hopped on a CTA train during the morning rush hour.
A gunman entered the store just after 7 a.m., confronted both a customer and employee at gunpoint and left with as much as $10,000, according to a Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown report. He forced the victims into a management office inside the store, where the money was handed over.
By 7:15 a.m., the robber was gone aboard a CTA train from the nearby Belmont Avenue station. He was wearing a black wig, tight fitted T-shirt and was described by police as a black man between 20 and 30 years old.
